Westica Communications directors Stevie Dynes and Andy Hunwicks are set to accelerate growth after the sale of their company to private equity-backed Serbus Group.

Founded in 1994 and based in Glasgow, Westica has more than 30 years of experience in secure radio network communications.

The company designs, deploys and supports microwave and UHF/VHF radio networks, critical communications systems, cyber-secure networking and infrastructure solutions.

Westica has built a strong reputation as a trusted provider of wireless communications, critical network infrastructure and secure connectivity solutions, supporting organisations in some of the UK’s most demanding operating environments across the CNI, utilities, blue-light services, government, transport, oil & gas and enterprise sectors.

In a deal advised by Tom Eatough, KBS Corporate Associate Director, Westica was sold to Hereford-based Serbus, which aims to become a UK market leader in B2B critical network and ICT infrastructure managed services within the CNI sector. Legal services for Westica were provided by K3 Law.

“Our success has always been built on technical expertise, responsiveness and customer relationships,” explained Westica director Stevie Dynes. “Joining Serbus Group allows us to build on those foundations and invest further in the future.

“We are excited about the additional capabilities and opportunities this partnership will create for our customers and colleagues moving forward.”

Stevie and Andy are remaining with Westica as Serbus expands its specialist wireless technology capabilities and national footprint.

“This is another important step for Serbus in building a business to meet the increasing needs of CNI customers,” said Simon Fieldhouse, Group CEO of Serbus.

“Sector expertise, and a focus on security, operational health, safety and compliance, is core to the Serbus strategy, and we recognise in Westica the same commitment to resilience, reliability and customer service.

“The addition of Westica to our Group extends our security DNA and strengthens our mission to connect and protect the services that matter most.”

Serbus is backed by private equity buy-and-build specialist Aliter Capital, which is focused on further acquisitions alongside organic growth.

“This acquisition is another significant step forward in realising our growth ambitions,” said Aliter partner Greig Brown. “Westica is a great fit, adding a wealth of specialist skills and experience to the Group.

“The addition of Westica’s presence in Scotland also supports plans to develop a UK-wide footprint for Serbus, servicing major customers across the length and breadth of the country.”
