Cheers to a new chapter after 40 years for Tecflo’s founders
Forty years after founding Tecflo, Geoff and Elaine Wood are convinced they have found the ideal next owner for their business in Swedish industrial group Teqnion.
Formed in 1986 and operating from a 9,400 sq ft factory, Tecflo manufactures and supplies draught beer dispensing equipment, serving brewers, pub groups and drinks businesses nationally and internationally.
Its well-recognised branded range spans fob detectors, keg couplers, cleaning sockets, taps, fonts, beer meters, regulators and cask beer equipment.
George Barnes, KBS Corporate Associate Corporate Director, advised on the deal which means Tecflo becomes the 12th company sold by KBS to Teqnion within three-and-a-half years.
Tecflo has a team of around 20 employees and the company has delivered around €5.4million in revenue on average with robust margins for the last three years. Geoff Wood, Tecflo’s Managing Director, will stay on to support Daniel Zhang, Teqnion’s CXO, and the business through the transition.
“After four decades of building this company, what mattered most to Elaine and myself was that it went to the right owner, for the sake of the business and everyone in it,” said Geoff.
“Teqnion is that owner. I’m glad to be helping the team and Daniel to elevate Tecflo from here. This is the start of something new, and I’m confident it will be a good chapter.”
Tecflo has established itself as a trusted and dependable supplier in the beer dispensing equipment market, with several of its client relationships spanning three decades and more.
Daniel Zhang commented: “Geoff and his team produce high-quality equipment and they do it with the kind of engineering knowhow that keeps customers loyal for 30 years and counting.
“Skilled people, own-brand products, blue-chip clients and stable profitability – Tecflo is a fantastic addition to Teqnion.
“We expect to keep the beer flowing for a long time to come.”
KBS Corporate’s George Barnes was delighted to bring the transaction to a successful conclusion – his third with Teqnion following the sales of Merridale and Norlin Polymers.
“Congratulations to Geoff and Elaine on reaching this milestone,” said George. “They have spent 40 years building Tecflo into a name that brewers and pub groups trust, and they were clear from the start that the right owner mattered more than anything.
“It was a pleasure to work with Daniel and the Teqnion team again, and I’m confident Tecflo has found the right home.”
